It may sound crazy but grandma knew best when she called these foods fattening. These foods will make your pancreas secret insulin each time you eat them, being a former type 2 diabetic I quickly learned about this very important glandular organ, called the pancreas. Once I had a under standing of insulin and the pancreas, things became much easier as my Food Journey became a welcome experience. I also learned that I was one of many who could easily put on fat. So I keep reminding myself that insulin is a fat producing and fat retaining hormone, with this simple reminder staying away from these foods has become a very important part of my Food Journey.

Regain your taste thru Food Journey, one of the most difficult part of my Food Journey, and anyone's will be the taste enhancers that are added to many food products. These taste enhancers (MSG, natural flavors, spices, etc.) are very hard to over come, and can sabotage anyone who may want to start out on there own Food Journey. The trick is to know where to find them, and escape being sabotage by them. Food Journey has no boundaries! If its going back in time or heading down to South Beach, it's important to maintain an open mind when traveling on your own food journey. The south beach diet was a hit because it had results with weight loss averaging between 8 to 12 pounds lost within the first two weeks of the diet. The success of the diet was due to the restrictions of flour, sugar, and based on a low carbohydrate and low glycemic index.

It is an excellent lecture on the dangers of sugar, I found this video early in my food journey, ever since, I have followed this wonderful Doctor unravel the truth and dangers about sugar. It is very important to consider the grams of sugar and how to properly measure the amounts when ingesting sugarier drinks or foods. I personally only drink water and unsweetened coconut milk (not coconut water). One 12 oz. can of Coca-Cola has 39 grams of sugar the equivalent of 9.79 teaspoons of sugar. Next time you pickup that can of soda, quickly do the math (four grams of sugar equal one teaspoon of sugar) and take notice of the total amount of sugar you're about to consume. Food Journey travels back in time. The cultural conditioning of the children including myself. It's crazy how we were being told, and continue you to be told, that all these cereals are part of a healthy diet. The cereals in this commercial are packed with high sugar amount for each serving size (3/4 cup, 1 cup, and 1 1/4 cup), I could clearly remember as a child eating large blows of many of these cereal. In this commercial are just 12 brands of cereals which of many can still be found today, along with the dozens and dozens of newer brands found today. Here are the total amounts of sugar of a few the cereals in this commercial. 1. Frosted Flakes 6.5 teaspoons of sugar per 3/4 cup. 2. Froot Loops 6.5 teaspoons of sugar per one cup. 3. Rice Krispies 7.5 teaspoons of sugar per 1 1/4 cup. 4. Apple Jacks 6.0 teaspoons of sugar per 1 cup. The reconditioning will take time and effort because, we first have to understand that sugar in any form is not healthy to consume!
